Condor (DE) resumes Palma de Mallorca (PMI) – Dortmund (DTM) service
Condor has officially resumed service between Palma de Mallorca and Dortmund, restoring an air link that had been suspended since 26 October 2024. The relaunch marks another step in reactivating leisure and VFR traffic between the Mediterranean’s leading resort island and one of the Ruhr region’s most dynamic urban centers.
The route’s return is particularly significant as German leisure demand to Spain continues to recover strongly. Palma de Mallorca serves as the principal gateway to the Balearic Islands, while Dortmund remains a key economic, technology, and services hub in western Germany. The nonstop service substantially reduces travel time, gives Condor a direct competitive edge against Eurowings, and further strengthens the carrier’s presence on leisure-oriented routes with resilient demand and solid growth potential.
Operationally, Condor is serving the route with multiple weekly frequencies, deploying Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft depending on the day of operation. This setup allows the airline to match capacity more flexibly to day-specific demand peaks while optimizing supply efficiency during the summer season.
Palma de Mallorca continues to attract visitors with its Mediterranean sunshine, lively marina, and historic old quarter rich in Spanish character. A standout attraction is the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized for its distinctive cultural landscape, where terraced fields, ancient stone villages, and dramatic coastal mountain roads create a Mallorca that is both picturesque and majestic. The city also draws travelers with its landmark seafront cathedral and a resort lifestyle that extends almost year-round.
Dortmund presents the profile of a city that has transformed impressively from heavy industry into a center for technology, creativity, and urban culture. From modern public spaces to museums, theaters, and a vibrant sports scene, it reflects the Ruhr region’s renewed dynamism. From Dortmund, travelers can also easily explore the Zollverein complex in nearby Essen, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned as a symbol of industrial architecture and of the transformation of coal-and-steel heritage into a contemporary cultural destination.
