Air China (CA) launches Chongqing (CKG) - Manila (MNL) route

Air China has officially inaugurated its new nonstop round-trip service between Chongqing and Manila, adding a new link to the air connectivity network between western China and Southeast Asia. The new route not only shortens travel time between the two major cities, but also provides an additional convenient option for two-way business, trade and leisure demand.

The launch is particularly significant as Chongqing continues to rise as a major economic, industrial and logistics hub in inland China, while Manila serves as the Philippines’ dynamic gateway with strong appeal in commerce, services and tourism. Establishing a direct air bridge between the two cities helps optimize journey times while creating further room for trade, cultural exchange and connecting traffic across Air China’s broader network. It also marks a strategic step in the carrier’s ambition to strengthen its presence in Asian markets where travel demand is showing clear growth.

The route is operated multiple times per week with the Boeing 737-800, providing a steady link between the two cities. Frequency is being deployed flexibly during the initial launch phase, allowing the airline to progressively build the market and expand its footprint on the new city pair.

Chongqing stands out for its distinctive mountainous terrain, modern skyline and vibrant urban energy at the confluence of two major rivers. The city is also an ideal gateway to the Dazu Rock Carvings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its intricate religious art and historical legacy spanning centuries. Its bold, spicy cuisine, especially Chongqing hotpot, adds another memorable dimension to the journey.
