WestJet (WS) launches Calgary (YYC) - Campbell River (YBL) route

WestJet has officially inaugurated nonstop service between Calgary and Campbell River, establishing a new air link between Alberta’s dynamic economic hub and one of Vancouver Island’s distinctive nature gateways. The launch marks a notable step in the airline’s strategy to expand its footprint in Western Canada while adding a convenient travel option for both business and leisure passengers.

The new route not only shortens journey times between the two destinations, but also broadens access to Campbell River through WestJet’s extensive network via its Calgary hub. As one of the carrier’s key connecting points, Calgary enables smoother onward connections from numerous domestic and international cities to Canada’s Pacific coast. WestJet is operating the roundtrip service several times per week with the De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400, a turboprop well suited to regional markets thanks to its operating efficiency and deployment flexibility.
