Route Type Seasonal Service

Norwegian Air Sweden has officially inaugurated its seasonal route between Helsinki and Tirana, adding a new air link between Northern Europe and the Balkans at the height of the summer travel season. The new service not only expands nonstop travel options for leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives traffic, but also provides fresh momentum for two-way demand between Finland and Albania.

The route is significant in linking a dynamic Nordic capital, renowned for design, technology and quality of life, with Tirana, which is emerging as one of Southeast Europe’s most compelling new destinations. The nonstop operation shortens journey times, strengthens competition against incumbent rival Finnair, and underlines Norwegian Air Sweden’s strategic intent to capture peak summer demand while deepening connectivity between Europe’s rising markets.

Under the planned operation, the airline will serve the route with up to three weekly round trips during the peak period, using the Boeing 737 MAX 8. The schedule has been structured with seasonal flexibility, catering to both short breaks and longer stays.

Helsinki serves as an elegant gateway to the Nordic region, where minimalist architecture, coastal living and a strong creative spirit combine to shape a distinctive urban rhythm. From the city center, travelers can explore Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site noted for its island-spanning fortifications and its exceptional military heritage in the Baltic region. The city also appeals through its harbor markets, sauna culture and design spaces that reflect a distinctly Finnish identity.

Tirana offers a youthful, energetic atmosphere, with tree-lined boulevards, expansive squares and a vibrant café scene. From the Albanian capital, travelers can easily continue onward to Berat and Gjirokastër, two UNESCO World Heritage cities celebrated for their remarkably preserved Ottoman architecture, reflecting the depth of Albania’s history and cultural identity. The city also serves as a gateway to the Albanian Riviera, where turquoise waters, rugged mountains and coastal towns are increasingly winning over European travelers.
