El Al (LY) launches seasonal Tel Aviv (TLV) - Varna (VAR) service

El Al has officially inaugurated its seasonal route between Tel Aviv and Varna, adding a notable nonstop option for leisure traffic between Israel and Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast. The launch at the very start of May indicates the carrier is positioning ahead of the peak summer travel period while expanding its Eastern European footprint with a destination of strong potential.

The new service creates a direct air link between Israel’s dynamic economic and technology hub and one of Bulgaria’s leading seaside leisure gateways. By offering nonstop flights, El Al significantly reduces travel time compared with connecting itineraries, enhancing the route’s appeal for family holidaymakers, short-break travelers, and passengers visiting friends and relatives. With competitor Arkia also active in this market, El Al’s move carries a clear strategic dimension aimed at reinforcing its share of summer leisure demand and strengthening connectivity between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea coast.

Under the current operating schedule, the route is served several times weekly during the summer season, with frequency adjusted flexibly in line with demand patterns. El Al deploys Boeing 737 aircraft on the service, a suitable choice for short- and medium-haul sectors that supports operating efficiency while maintaining the airline’s familiar onboard product.
