Wizz Air UK (W9) launches London Luton (LTN) - Chania (CHQ) route

Wizz Air UK has officially inaugurated nonstop service between London Luton and Chania, adding a new air link between the United Kingdom and the Greek island of Crete. The new route not only broadens options for leisure travelers but also strengthens direct access to one of the Mediterranean’s most compelling destinations for the summer season.

The launch to Chania underscores Wizz Air UK’s clear strategic focus on reinforcing its presence in high-demand island and seaside leisure markets. London remains one of Europe’s leading origin markets for air travel, while Chania serves as a key gateway to western Crete, where beaches, heritage, gastronomy and a thriving tourism economy converge. On this corridor, the carrier enters competition with established operators, but the advantages of its low-cost model and convenient nonstop schedule give the new service strong potential to stimulate demand, shorten journey times and support two-way traffic flows.

The route is operated with two weekly round trips using the Airbus A321neo. This frequency is well aligned with both short leisure breaks and longer stays in Crete during the peak travel period.
