Air India (AI) launches Delhi (DEL) - Hanoi (HAN) route

Air India has officially inaugurated nonstop service between Delhi and Hanoi, creating another new air link between India and Vietnam. The move not only expands the carrier’s footprint in Southeast Asia, but also offers a more convenient travel option for both business and leisure passengers between the two culturally rich capitals.

The new route carries clear strategic significance, linking Delhi—India’s political and economic center as well as a major international gateway—with Hanoi, the administrative, cultural and commercial hub of northern Vietnam. As demand for travel, tourism and trade between the two fast-growing economies continues to rise, the nonstop service significantly shortens journey times compared with one-stop alternatives, enhancing the appeal of the market in both directions. Air India is also leveraging the strength of its Delhi hub to provide Hanoi-origin passengers with deeper connectivity across South Asia, Europe and North America, while reinforcing its competitive position against VietJet Air and Vietnam Airlines in the Vietnam–India corridor.

Air India is operating the route with four round trips per week using the Airbus A320neo. The new-generation narrowbody configuration enables the airline to strike an effective balance between operating costs, market presence and passenger experience on a medium-haul sector.

Delhi is a city where layers of history blend into the rhythm of a rapidly evolving megacity. From the grand avenues of New Delhi to the vibrant historic bazaars of Old Delhi, the city presents a landscape that is both stately and dynamic.
