Technical Issue DetailsAfter landing safely at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, China Eastern Airlines flight MU5406 from Chengdu, operated by an Airbus A350-900, suffered a complete brake failure while taxiing to its assigned stand.
Outcome / HandlingIn an attempt to stop the aircraft using reverse thrust, the aircraft moved backward and forward repeatedly, causing its left wing and No. 1 engine to collide with the passenger boarding bridge multiple times.
Current StatusNone of the 284 passengers and crew members on board were injured. The aircraft sustained structural damage to its wing and engine and was withdrawn from service pending an investigation by the CAAC.
