Technical Issue DetailsShortly after takeoff from Quebec City for Montreal, the right CFM56 engine of Air Canada Rouge flight RV1977 suffered a compressor stall during the climb phase.
Outcome / HandlingThe flight crew declared an emergency and completed the Quick Reference Handbook (QRH) checklist. After resolving the engine issue, they decided to continue the flight to Montreal, where the aircraft landed safely.
Current StatusNo injuries were reported among the 129 passengers and crew on board. The aircraft was temporarily taken out of service for inspections and successfully returned to service on May 5, 2026.
