Contour Aviation officially launches Pensacola–Cape Girardeau route
Contour Aviation has officially launched a new route linking Pensacola, Florida, with Cape Girardeau, Missouri, adding a noteworthy new nonstop option between the Gulf Coast and the U.S. Midwest. The new service significantly reduces travel time while creating a more convenient travel option for business travelers, visiting friends and relatives traffic, and leisure passengers.
From a strategic perspective, the move aligns with Contour Aviation’s network expansion strategy focused on niche markets with steady demand that remain underserved by nonstop service. Linking Pensacola with Cape Girardeau not only improves accessibility between the two cities, but also supports regional commerce, academic travel, and domestic passenger flows seeking more efficient itineraries.
The route is operated with two round trips per week using Bombardier CRJ regional jets, providing a right-sized platform for point-to-point demand.
Pensacola is one of the standout destinations in the Florida Panhandle, known for the white-sand beaches of Pensacola Beach and the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The city also offers a rich maritime heritage, with a charming historic downtown and the National Naval Aviation Museum, a major visitor attraction.
At the other end of the route, Cape Girardeau sits on the banks of the Mississippi River and reflects the character of a historic Midwestern city. It stands out for its old riverfront district, floodwalls decorated with murals depicting local history, and its role as a key economic and educational center in southeastern Missouri.
