Cabo Verde Airlines resumes Praia–Recife route
Cabo Verde Airlines has officially resumed service between Praia and Recife, restoring an important air link between Cabo Verde and northeastern Brazil. The relaunch marks a notable step in the airline’s efforts to strengthen its transatlantic connectivity while offering passengers additional convenient travel options for visiting friends and relatives, tourism, and trade.
The Praia–Recife route carries strategic importance not only for Cabo Verde Airlines’ network but also for connectivity between Portuguese-speaking communities on both sides of the Atlantic. As international travel demand continues to recover, the reinstated service reinforces Praia’s role as Cabo Verde’s natural connecting hub while bringing Recife closer to African markets.
In the initial phase, the airline is operating the route with one weekly round-trip flight using a Boeing 737.
Praia, the capital of Cabo Verde on Santiago Island, serves as the political and economic gateway to the mid-Atlantic island nation. The city stands out for the elevated historic Plateau district, colonial-era squares, and distinctly tropical coastline, giving it a unique appeal for travelers seeking an island cultural experience.
At the other end of the route, Recife is one of Brazil’s most distinctive cities. Known for the historic Recife Antigo district, bridges spanning its waterways, and Boa Viagem beach, the city is also regarded as a vibrant cultural center of Pernambuco, where history, music, and coastal life blend in a particularly rich way.
