Technical Issue Details
A Bombardier CRJ-550 (N707EV) operating Delta Connection flight DL4229 (operated by SkyWest Airlines) from Minneapolis (MSP) to Hibbing (HIB) experienced a technical occurrence.
During the landing flare on runway 31, the flight crew encountered a restriction in the aircraft's nose-up pitch control due to limited elevator travel.
Outcome / Handling
The aircraft touched down safely and taxied to the gate without further issues.
No injuries were reported among the 13 passengers and 4 crew members.
The aircraft sustained no damage.
Current Status
The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released its final report on May 19, 2026, concluding that the incident was caused by the failure of the elevator autopilot servo control cable due to cyclic fatigue.
The slack from the fractured cable wrapped around the autopilot servo mount, restricting rotation and limiting control quadrant movement.
